Looking Back, Moving Forward
As we approach a new Jewish year, I always take a moment to reflect—on the past year’s challenges and accomplishments, both personally and professionally—and to look ahead with excitement and optimism.
For American Friends of ALYN Hospital (AFAH), this year is ending on a high note. In just the past month, we hosted successful young professional events in Boston and Los Angeles, along with a terrific parlor meeting about Wheels of Love in Aventura, Florida. Altogether, over 1,000 people participated in AFAH events this past year—an incredible sign of growing engagement and support.
At these gatherings, and during my visits to these (and other) communities, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many of you, our supporters across the country. Hearing why you became involved and what inspires your commitment to ALYN is uplifting and a powerful reminder of what brings us together.
Meanwhile, preparations for this year’s Wheels of Love bike ride are in full swing. This event is our largest fundraiser for the children of ALYN Hospital, and it creates another meaningful opportunity for our community to come together as part of the ALYN family.
Looking ahead, we are excited to build on these successes and expand our AFAH family even further. Here are some ways you can get involved in the coming year:
- Join us in Israel for the Wheels of Love ride, November 3–6. There is also a pre-ride visit, November 2, to communities in the North that have been impacted by the ongoing conflict.
- Ride virtually if you can’t make it to Israel. You can cycle in your own community, on a stationary bike, or simply participate as part of the family, raising essential support. Email us to learn how you can be part of the virtual ride.
- Join a committee—our Young Professionals or Development/Marketing Committees are wonderful ways to expand our reach and impact.
- Host a parlor meeting. All you need is a space and a willingness to invite friends, colleagues, or neighbors to learn more about ALYN. We’ll help with the program and logistics.
- Make a contribution. Every gift, large or small, makes a meaningful difference for the children we serve.
Whatever role you choose, please know how deeply your support is valued. None of this would be possible without you.

LOOKING BACK AT 90 YEARS THIS ELUL
Ninety years later, that vision endures. ALYN is not just a hospital; it is a community of strength, innovation, and support. As we move through Elul and prepare for a new year, we carry with us the reminder that resilience is built not only through overcoming hardship, but through the unwavering commitment to building a brighter future for the children who need us most.
ALYN TAKES ROOT IN LOS ANGELES
More than 150 people gathered for a beautiful Shabbat dinner at a Brentwood home, where they learned about ALYN’s life-changing work helping children with disabilities reach their full potential. The dinner was followed by an after-party that drew 220 attendees, filling the space with energy, connection, and genuine enthusiasm.
AMERICAN FRIENDS OF ALYN IN AVENTURA
A heartfelt gathering of veteran riders, interested individuals, and both new and previous donors took place in Aventura, FL, at the end of August. During the meeting, we shared important insights about ALYN and the Wheels of Love annual charity event, with presentations in both English and Spanish.
