Giving Thanks for the ALYN Community
It’s November, which for us at American Friends of ALYN Hospital always means two things. First, it’s time for the annual Wheels of Love Bike Ride in Israel—and what a ride it was this year. You can read more about it in my article later in this newsletter.
Second, November at AFAH is a month of gratitude. And in many ways, these two themes go hand in hand. Wheels of Love reminds us of the extraordinary community that rallies around ALYN Hospital each year, and November gives us a moment to pause and recognize just how fortunate we are to have supporters who ensure that ALYN’s critical work continues every single day. This life-changing care simply would not be possible without our thousands of dedicated donors. For that, I say—THANK YOU.
While at the hospital for the Wheels of Love closing ceremonies, I had the opportunity to visit several newly renovated areas and wanted to share a few wonderful updates.
The Day Center has been beautifully refreshed, and the renovated school is now open and thriving. For the first time, all the classrooms are located together in one central area, giving children the uplifting sense of truly “going to school,” rather than attending classes scattered throughout different parts of the hospital. It is already making a meaningful difference in their daily experience.
Another exciting part of the Day Center renovation is the updated music room, where children will receive music therapy—one of the many therapeutic modalities offered at ALYN to help each child overcome their unique challenges. A special note of thanks goes to our President, Joanne Blye, and her husband, Jeff, whose generous support made this renovation possible.
As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to once again express my deepest gratitude to each of our donors. Your generosity enables ALYN to continue its vital work, offering world-class rehabilitation and hope to children and families who need it most.
So, as you gather around the table this Thanksgiving, I invite you to take a moment to think of the children of ALYN—of their strength, their courage, and their remarkable progress. May their resilience be among the many blessings you count this year.
WHEELS OF LOVE '25
Wheels of Love 2025 is now “in the books,” and what an extraordinary ride it was. More than 320 participants from over 10 countries came together with a single purpose: to ride on behalf of the children of ALYN Hospital. Despite unusually high temperatures in northern Israel, the week was filled with camaraderie, beautiful landscapes, challenging routes, and a shared sense of mission. The hotel and food were outstanding, the atmosphere was warm, and—most importantly—our riders have already raised over $2.3 million to support ALYN Hospital, Israel’s premier pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation center.
GETTING ACTIVE WITH ALYN
As we approach Giving Tuesday, we’re launching #GetActiveWithALYN. Inspired by the innovative multi-disciplinary approaches used by ALYN Hospital, American Friends of ALYN Hospital is inviting you to get moving this month to showcase the variety of care, commitment, and support of the hospital, its staff, patients, and friends.
Post a photo of you doing your favorite activity, or gathering with friends and family, and upload it to social media with #GetActiveWithALYN, or send it our way through email, and we’ll create a special community college to showcase our community!
